Wordle Solver

Enter the clues from your Wordle board and instantly narrow down every possible answer.

Type a letter in the box matching its position.

In the word, wrong spot.

Not in the word at all.

How to Use the Wordle Solver

After each Wordle guess, feed the clues into the solver: put green letters in the box matching their exact position, list the yellow letters that appear in the word but in the wrong spot, and list the gray letters that are not in the word at all.

Click Find Answers and the solver instantly filters a dictionary of five-letter words down to every remaining possibility. The more clues you add, the shorter the list becomes — usually just a handful of candidates after two or three guesses.

Wordle Strategy Tips

Start with a guess rich in common vowels and consonants, such as CRANE, SLATE, or ADIEU, to reveal as many green and yellow clues as possible on turn one.

Avoid reusing letters you already know are gray, and try to test brand-new letters with each guess so the solver can eliminate more words. Use this tool as a learning aid — it is a great way to discover new five-letter words.

After your second guess, you should have enough clues to narrow the list down to a handful of words. Look at the remaining candidates and pick a guess that distinguishes between them — even if you do not think it is the answer, it can eliminate possibilities and guarantee a solve on the next turn.

Understanding Wordle Colors

Green means the letter is correct and in the right position. Enter it in the matching box above. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot — add it to the yellow field. Gray means the letter is not in the word at all — add it to the gray field.

A common mistake is forgetting that a letter can appear more than once. If you guess SPEED and the first E is yellow while the second is gray, the answer has exactly one E — and it is not in the fourth position. Our solver handles duplicate letters correctly.

Common Wordle Mistakes to Avoid

Wasting a guess on known letters. Once you have several greens and yellows, it is tempting to keep rearranging the letters you already know. Instead, use a guess to test brand-new letters — even an "impossible" word can eliminate half the remaining candidates and save you the game.

Ignoring letter frequency. Not all letters are equally likely. E, A, R, O, and T appear far more often in five-letter words than J, Q, or Z, so leaning on common letters early gathers more information. Forgetting position clues. A yellow letter is not just "in the word" — it is also "not in this exact spot," which rules out more words than many players realise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Wordle solver work?+

It filters every five-letter word against your clues: green letters must match their position, yellow letters must appear somewhere in the word, and gray letters are excluded entirely. The more clues you enter, the fewer candidates remain.

Does it know today’s Wordle answer?+

It does not fetch the specific daily puzzle. Instead it narrows down all valid possibilities based on the clues you enter, which quickly leads you to the answer.

What if I get no matches?+

That usually means two clues conflict — for example a letter marked both present and absent. Re-check your greens, yellows, and grays and make sure each letter is in the correct category.

What are the best Wordle starting words?+

Popular choices include CRANE, SLATE, ADIEU, SALET, and ROATE. These words contain the most frequently used letters in five-letter English words, giving you the most information on your first guess.

Can I use this for Wordle variants like Quordle or Dordle?+

Yes! The solver works for any five-letter word puzzle. Just enter the clues from each individual board into the solver separately.

Is using a Wordle solver cheating?+

That is up to you. Many players use it only after they are stuck, as a learning aid to discover new five-letter words, or to keep a daily streak alive. Used that way it is a study tool rather than a shortcut — you still make the guesses and learn the vocabulary.

How many guesses should it take with the solver?+

After entering the clues from two guesses, the candidate list is usually short enough to solve on the third or fourth turn. Choosing a guess that tests the letters distinguishing the remaining candidates is the fastest way to close it out.
